Career Poll: Fascinating LinkedIn Surveys Galore!

If I had another life to live, I might go about trying to land a job at the Gallup organization, since I’ve always been highly enthralled by market surveys, lists, and polls.  In fact, any “crowdsourced” information of this kind always intrigues me, whether it involves cross-referencing lists of the top sci-movies ever made or simply trying to guess the most common answers to questions on Family Feud, for those who remember that show.

At any rate, thanks to the terrific (but not well-known) LinkedIn “polls” tool, we all can conveniently post a survey on any topic of interest to us, at any time, and seek out input from our fellow LinkedIn members.  That’s pretty a cool piece of functionality.  And as my regular readers know, I’ve been taking advantage of this resource for years by running/posting a series of career-related polls that you can find archived and analyzed here, if interested.

In my latest survey, I asked the question “Compared to recent years, how do you think the job market is doing in 2012?”  I expected to get quite a few responses on this one, actually, given the broad nature of the topic, but alas only 18 hardy souls chose to chime in this time around.  Still, you’ll find their responses here if you want to review them.  Apparently, most people feel the economy is still largely a mixed bag.  Some industries and occupational niches are hot, while others continue to struggle.  Nothing too newsworthy there, I suppose.

This anemic result for this latest poll, however, inspired me to do something I’ve never thought of doing before — which is look up OTHER polls that have been asked over the years on LinkedIn, related to career and job search topics, to see what kinds of insights and responses they’ve generated.  So after a bit of poking around, I’ve assembled this sample collection of survey questions that I thought might be most relevant to those following this blog.
